How Did It Get Started?
Gager is no stranger to the tragedy that of natural disasters. In 1999, she lost her Virginia home to Hurricane Floyd. Her first-hand experience with loss and trauma after a hurricane motivated her to put her coupon-clipping prowess to good use.
When she saw that Hurricane Harvey survivors were in need of supplies, she stepped up to help.
She posted on Facebook asking people to donate money so she could start hunting for discounts on items that Hurricane Harvey survivors need the most.
She immediately received an influx of donations, with money pouring in even from strangers she had never met. Then, she works her coupon magic and starts scouring for deals on essential goods.
Here’s How The Coupon Aid System Works
The couponed items include everything from personal hygiene supplies to baby wipes and baby shampoo. Whether it’s detergent, deodorant, toilet paper, or toothpaste, her expertise have provided an exceptional service to those affected by the storm. Sometimes she will even hand-deliver the items to families that have been displaced from their homes and are staying in nearby hotels.
So far, she estimates that she’s helped around thirty different groups and families to get the supplies they need while dealing with the hurricane’s damage.
And the coupon-clipping Angel isn’t planning to restrict her aid to Texas. Her next move? Helping survivors of Hurricane Irma.
